Trip Recap

I had a pretty full agenda for my adventure away alone, and I think I fulfilled all of my expectations and then Img_1686_2
some!  I was super worried that something would go wrong due to me being a total chicken, but everything was fine, obviously, as I did all that I wanted to and even made it home without losing anything like my wits or luggage 😉

It is no secret to those that know me that I *heart* Portland (OR).  It is so relaxed and kicked back and Img_1691

easy going, and it is totally for me.  Yup.  I’m pretty sure I’ll end up living it Oregon Img_1700
someday, maybe not Portland but it won’t matter where as I haven’t seen anywhere in Oregon that I didn’t think was amazing.    My friends are fantastic and I love them so much, I just wish I had more time to spend with them!!  So next time I go up there I will spend at least 2 days there (if they will have me!!!) When I got there I went to a place called Forest Park that I think is right in the city.  I did a quick hike and got my tree fix!  Img_1743
It was a gorgeous place and I wished that I had had more time to just wander there.

So Seattle.  I like it. It is very densely populated downtown, which is Img_1763
where I stayed, and I do like that, opposed to urban sprawl which we have a bunch of Img_1751
here in Utah.  There were some amazing things to see, like just the city in itself.  I had to smile when I was downtown and saw a giant tree right in the middle of the street.  And the nighttime view from the Space Needle while sipping a local brew was pretty cool.  Pike Place Market was a whole lot of eye candy with all of the beautiful fruit,
produce, flowers, fish, etc.  The waterfront was also gImg_1777reat – really I could have spent hours just walking up and down alongside the calm water, and I suppose I did spend a good hour there walking and taking it all in.

My first day in Seattle came after a four hour afternoon train ride from the beautiful Portland.  It happened to be raining when I got there.  And I had sense enough – okay, Img_1810
lack of sense enough, to try and walk to my hotel while it was raining and I didn’t know where in the frick I was.  Eventually I ended up back and the train station taking a taxi to my hotel, and so all was good.  Eventually.  I took a trip on the monorail to have some dinner and see the Space Needle.  It was close enough to getting dark, so I stayed and Img_1793
had a beer while waiting for it to get dark and all of the city lights to emerge.  It was so worth it.  There wasn’t much else for me to do by myself at the Seattle Center so I just went to the hotel after that and called it a day.

The next day was all good.  I started out early by walking a few blocks Img_1778
and then some to the Pike Place Market, and then down to the waterfront.  Of course I didn’t take my camera with me, and so when I told The Boyfriend about it he said I’d have to go back and take pictures for The Baby.  So I did, the next day.  Too bad most of Img_1781
them didn’t come out very well!  Of course there was the spinning class on Sunday and Monday, but that deserves it’s own post so you’ll have to wait for that.  (I will give you a sneak peek though!)

Anyway, beyond what was previously mentioned, there are apparently some fabulous places to eat in Seattle.  The one I chose was the Dahlia Lounge.  I had a fabulous steak with arugula, an Img_1803
heirloom tomato, and some fried broccoli and cheddar dumplings.  Delicious!!!  Dessert was some gourmet chocolates with a fantastic port wine – my newest love. One of the best dinners in my career of eating.  Really.  I can tell that food means a lot to people in Seattle, it was really tough even sifting through all of the great sounding places to just pick one for a nice dinner!  I just wish we were as lucky here to have a great daily market, and more meaningful restaurants instead of being overwhelmed with chains.  Anyway.

That’s about it, the yarns are not mine, they are Pluckyfluff’s and aren’t they awesome?!  I’ll tell you more about the class and show you what I made soon.

  2. I’m glad you had such a good time! The Northwest Is Best (I include Alaska and BC) but Utah is also mighty fine.

I LOVE Oregon & Seattle. I so wish we could live there also…but although I would do great in the weather, your brother is such a desert-rat that he would probably melt in the rain. 🙂
Sounds like it was a fabulous trip. I’m so jealous!
