Food Plans

We went shopping!  Here is what we got:

  • Chicken $8.23
  • Z bars that were on clearance $1.00
  • Yams $5.49
  • Heavy cream $3.79
  • Pepitas $2.00
  • Garlic $1.00
  • Lemons $2.00
  • Cucumbers $2.00
  • Kosher Salt $4.00 – we bought two since they were $1.00 off each
  • Chocolate bar $3.00
  • Coffee syrup $3.69
  • Corn chips $2.50
  • Celery Salt $3.99 – didn’t really need this, but I did need a jar and we will use it
  • Cinnamon $3.99 – again, mostly for the jar
  • Sour cream $2.50
  • Whole milk for drinking and yogurt $2.69
  • Skim milk for making cheese $4.69
  • Brown rice $12.99
  • Eggs $5.98
  • Cottage cheese $4.99
  • Cheese $9.94
We did overspend though 😦  I overspent on milk, we bought a bag of brown rice from Costco, and there were some other unplanned items put in the cart due to non-compliance 😉  I told these guys that next time we make the shopping list they better participate!!  The total of food items that we bought was $94.35.  So with the $25 for pantry that puts us at $119.35.  It’s still not bad!  Probably way cheaper than what we usually spend.  I’m not sure if we’ll have enough veggies to get us through the week but I hope so.  If not I’m okay with going to get more.
What I’m planning on making this week:
  • Broccoli and cauliflower soup
  • Roasted chicken and root veggies
  • Fish, buttered cabbage, quinoa
  • Chili
  • Pizza
  • Spaghetti and meatballs is in the works for tonight
Oh, and I found a great use for the extra ricotta!!  I have an italian cheesecake in the oven – hope it turns out good!
