Thank you!

Thank you all so much for the sweet birthday wishes!!  We had a pretty great day, The Baby pretty much got to choose what we did and what we ate, and she had a great time opening presents.  She got some pretty cool stuff, including a home sewn bath towel from my sister.  I love it more than The Baby does I think 🙂  The mac and cheese was delicious, and I made lava cake for dessert evenImg_0775
though all she really wanted was the ice cream (she’s an ice cream fiend!).  I showed her the blog post and read through the comments for her and she was just beaming, it was so precious, so thanks for helping make her day.

In other stuff, I voted yesterday – did you?!  I know that I’ve mentioned Ron Paul before here and how I like him, and I still do.  I just decided a few weeks ago that I believe Barack Obama is really the person who needs to be the president this time around.  So that’s where my vote went.  And didn’t he do great last night?  Woot!!  Anyway 🙂

After running out of yarn on my Logan River Wrap, I picked up another skein yesterday and was able to finish the second border last night.  All of the ends are woven in and now it just needs a bath.  I’m soooo glad to have this one done, it seemed like it just kept going on and on and on!  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed knitting it.  The dropping of stitches is always great fun, and the pattern was easily memorized and still interesting.  Hopefully it will dry today and I’ll be able to show it off soon!

I’ll be trying to finish up some stuff that has been lingering on the needles for a while now.  It’s going to be hard to not cast on anythinImg_0776g new.  There are tons of stuff that I’m eager to get started, and I need to start spinning again too since I missed the last half of last month in my spinning every day goal.  I will leave you with the nice little big surprise I got this morning.  We have a recycling bin!!!  Yes folks, I am ridiculously excited about this.  I have dreamed of the day and had heard a rumor that it was coming, but I would have never believed it!  I feel like being in the ghetto, we often get overlooked on a lot of things like nice roads, TRAX, and even recycling pickup.  So I am extremely happy to see this come 🙂  Maybe there is hope that we’ll get more of those other things yet!  That’s all I’ve got, have a great day!

  1. Recycling here is “voluntary” and only includes 2 kinds of plastic, glass & aluminum. I wish we were able to recycle paper- I’d have so much less trash! I hate that everything is so ‘eh- whatever’ about environmental issues that we (as a country) should have stepped up on YEARS ago. I still get stared at like I have 12 heads when I bring my canvas bags to the grocery store.

  2. I agree with your choice for your vote…
We have big glass & paper recycling containers at the end of the street and then once every 2 weeks we have a separate plastic bottles/cans pick up (which I tend to miss several times and then I have so many bags with bottles hanging around that they fill half a room LOL).

  3. We don’t even have the option to recycle here, which is kind of ridiculous. The only way we can is to drive to some sorting station way out on the edge of town, and pay them to take it.

  4. Good for you, getting a recycling bin!
We’re supposed to get a yard waste bin in March, and I’m really excited. It kind of made me ill to put all the clippings etc in the trash.
Would you believe there are several houses on our street who don’t use their bin? They just throw everything in the trash, and a couple of people have TWO huge trash cans because of it!
